Hero Arts Peacock Layering Stamps
I am really loving all the new layered stamps from Hero Arts. In fact, I am loving the whole release. It was hard for me to pick just one or two stamp sets to add to my collection. In a stroke of luck I was able to get the Layered Peacock from SSS. It had been saying “out of stock” almost from the moment of release, but one day when I was checking out the website, it was showing “in stock” I added it to the cart and checked out before they changed their mind about its’ availability. Sure enough, right after I checked out, it went back to showing “out of stock”.
I have already created three cards with it. Two are in traditional peacock colours and the other was based on a white peacock I saw at a zoo in Australia.
Here are the cards:
These all look better in real life than they look here sitting weirdly on the seat of the golf cart. I was trying to have full sun, otherwise the pictures look very bluish, and yet not have a shadow from the camera showing. Glitter rarely shows well on camera but looks great in real life. The white one is embossed with both white and iridescent embossing powders and is my favourite.
Shadowbox Card?
A while back Heartfelt Creations came out with some templates for some multi layer fold out cards. Included with the kit is a ready to decorate 6 X 6 shadow box. The Woodland Collection from Heartfelt Creations seemed like the perfect collection to use for a shadow box.
When making something with lots of elements, there are plenty of ways to go terribly wrong. This project has lots of them, not the least of which is the last minute dabbing of enamel accent on the deer for eyes, only to have a little black volcano erupt on one of the deer. I touched it up as best I could but the result is still cartoon like rather than the serene “endeering” look I was going for. The end result is interesting and was fun to put together.
The ladies at the scrapbook club here, asked me what I was going to do with this shadowbox when I completed it. What a silly question! I am going to do the same thing, that I have done with many other paper projects……………….that being nothing at all……………………….I mean really…………………………..why did the man climb the mountain………………………………………..because it was there, of course…………..
Dreaming of Hawaii
I must have been thinking about Hawaii the other day as I made three different cards using pineapples. Pineapples have always been associated with Hawaii even though in recent years, pineapples are imported mostly from the Philippines. Don’t know why I felt the need to say that but I visited the Island of Lanai where most of the pineapples were grown before Dole decided to shut down their operation. It was evident that decision had a negative effect on the island.
Here are two of the cards I made using the Pop Art Pineapple stamp set from Concord & Ninth. The third one was selected to be published in the summer issue of Creative Scrapbooker so I will keep that one under wraps for now.
Balloons 2015
Posting a scrapbook layout about a beautiful red balloon that picked our Phoenix backyard to launch from. The brilliant red colour against the intense blue of the Arizona sky was quite amazing.
Supplies: Backyard Ballon title cut on Pazzles electronic cutter and shaded with Copics, Cactus covered in Envirotex resin and popped up with Scotch foam tape. Sign made with Reverse Confetti All Framed up die. Waxed red twine from Monthly Hero Arts kit. Zigzag die is from My Favorite Things.
Sandcastles-Parksville, BC
Last summer I had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver Island. Although I had been there several times in my life, I had never before seen the magnificent sandcastle building competition held in Parksville, British Columbia. This year the theme was “Things with Wings”. The creativity was out of this world and so was the artistry. Here is the scrapbook page I created to remember the event.
Supplies: Recollections patterned paper, Martha Stewart Journal tag, Southern Ridge Trading chipboard, wings and shells cut on Pazzles electronic cutter, American Crafts Flair button, Doodlebug enamel dots, WPlus9 wave die
And even more Valentines
