Heartfelt Creations Card
I have a scrapbooking friend here in the resort who has been experiencing some health issues lately.
She is a lover of all things elegant and girly, so I wanted to make her a get well card in this style. Nobody does this style better than Heartfelt Creations, so I decided to use their stamps and dies. My friend had asked me specifically what I would do with the Decorative Medallion dies, so I wanted to use them on her card.
I wanted the card to be dimensional and elegant but no larger than a regular A2 sized card. I think it turned out well.
My friend will going to rehab soon………………………………No not that kind of rehab silly,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the kind to rally her strength and get her on her feet again. I am hoping for a steady and smooth recovery.
Game of Thrones Fans
Last summer I was lucky enough to go on a cruise around the British Isles! Okay Okay, I admit it, I wasn’t merely lucky…………I was SUPER LUCKY. Anyway, one day we took a tour from Belfast, Ireland out to Giant’s Causeway. On the way back, the bus stopped for a bathroom break. Those of us opting out of the twenty minute bathroom line up, were treated to an add on to the tour. The tour guide led us over to the Fullerton Arms pub where we were able to see one of the ten hand carved doors given by the Game of Thrones production company to pubs around Ireland. The wood from the doors was reclaimed from fallen trees (courtesy of Storm Gertrude) located at the “Dark Hedges” location of the show. The scenes carved on the doors are from scenes of the sixth season of the Game of Thrones. In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a Game of Thrones fanatic, but I am a Scrapbook fanatic and I thought there might be a great layout in the making here, and besides, I didn’t have to “pee” at that moment.
I already had the background paper from Ella and Viv and knew it couldn’t be more perfect for the layout. I even reclaimed a feather pen from my reject pile of embellishments and fixed it up with Indigo Blu guilding flakes. So, I too, did my part with some recycling of my own! The small picture of the “Dark Hedges” was taken from the Game of Thrones website.
Using the Pivot Pop Up Die from Lawn Fawn
If you are a “Friends” fan you might be interested in how this die from Lawn Fawn got it’s name. Kelly Marie Alvarez told us at Creativation, that it came from the Friends episode where the friends were trying to get a sofa up the stairs in the apartment building. Ross kept yelling “Pivot” and because the die pivots around just like the sofa was supposed to do, it got the moniker “Pivot Pop Up”
The card we made in class, using the Pivot Pop Up die, was one of my favourites from Creativation and so it was the first to go into my “cart” after the show.
I found the great constellation paper from American Crafts at Scraps of Love here in Phoenix. The Beam Me Up stamp set was included with the Lawn Fawn class. Incidentally, the WOW “glow in the dark” embossing powder I found in my scraproom here in Phoenix may be the same one I accused Sandra of borrowing and not returning. Not sure……. just saying. The star die is Sketchy Star and is from Simon Says Stamp. The amazing monster eyes are from Crackerbox Palace.
Anyway, the card turned out super cute and I am about to start on another variation of the same card.
Hope you like it.

Cross Stitch cards – Altenew
I recently purchased the Sewn with Love stamp set and die from Altenew. This is a layered stamp that mimics the look of Cross Stitch. What is totally amazing about this set is that the matching die is not a die at all but rather serves to add pinpoints to the image. The result is a stunningly realistic cross stitch looking image.
Now for the bad news. I must be cross stitchally (?) challenged, as I did not find this set “easy” to line up in spite of many reassurances from tutorials on the internet. In fact, my craft room could now be wallpapered in a slightly askew cross stitch pattern as I have that many rejects. All is well that ends well though, and I did get the hang of it eventually.
Take a look at these two great looking cards:
