Hero Arts December Kit
Sometimes in life, we get a surprise. When I began to work with the contents of the December Hero Arts, it was one of those times. At first glance, I was thinking “yuck” ………………fairies…………..mice………….and dandelions as the theme for the kit. Clearly, none of these is on my favourites list. I ended up being surprised to find that I liked the images and the ideas for cards just kept flowing. I had been watching a few tutorials that were of the “10 cards 1 kit” variety and I decided to see if I could replicate this. You are going to think that I can’t count as there are only seven cards in this post. Truth is, I had to stop, not because I was out of ideas, but rather because I needed to clean up and pack up my stuff for the trip to Phoenix.
I ended up being very happy with the cards. They are all different and yet all seem to evoke smiles and happy thoughts. Enjoy!
Cute and Different Christmas Card
Simon Says Stamp wants to know what Christmas Cards we are working on and there is a $100.00 gift certificate up for grabs. I had just finished this fun card using products from Concord and 9th, so this is the one I am linking.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop #9
Ok, I lied. I managed to make one more card before leaving for work.
I wanted to use The Daily Grind collection from Photoplay. I mean if you don’t use it for a coffee bloghop when can you use it?
I wanted to repeat the pattern on the background on the focal cup. I used Amplify to make the dimensional coffee cream. I like the idea a lot, but my execution of the card was hurried to say the least.
Check it out.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop #8
This will be my last card for the bloghop as I have been called into work today. I just received this background stamp from Picket Fence Studios and I wanted to use it. I had bought their ghost stamp for Halloween that says “Let’s get sheet faced together”. As it turned out, I never found the time to make the card and send it to the person I had in mind for it. I didn’t want the same thing to happen with this stamp………………………………….so here it is………………………fresh from my mailbox.
The sentiment is from Verve Stamps, a company that I only knew about through them being a sponsor on the Coffee Lovers Bloghop. I bought a number of their stamps on a close out sale.
The main coffee cup is from a recent Hero Arts Kit. I had hoped to make more cards from this multi-image kit, but maybe next blog.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop #7
The little sloth is back today. He is just too cute and deserves a second card. This time Lawn Fawn’s Knit Picky provides the background. My Favourite Things Ice Cube shaker pieces double as sugar cubes in this card. The spoon is from a tea cup die set from Simon Says Stamp.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop #6
Today’s card used a stamp set that was an add-on product from a recent Hero Arts Monthly Hero Kit. I have always had a fascination with the amazing scenes that Baristas can create with the cream in my coffee so I was immediately drawn to this stamp set. When I realized I could use Puffy embossing powder to give fluffy dimension to the cream, it had to go in my cart.
The Scalloped Circles die from Lawn Fawn, Doodlebug Sprinkles and coffee coloured sequins turned the whole thing into a cute shaker card.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop #4
Today’s card is special. It is special because it is made with a stamp set that I won in the last Coffee Lovers Bloghop. It is from The Cat’s Pajamas and is adorable. The image is small but I wanted it to take centre stage. A soft and faded out stencil background is a good way to ensure that the image isn’t lost. I love the sentiment on this card and certainly for me, is true.
2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop # 3
I am really learning the fine art of multi-tasking today. At the same time as I am working on Coffee cards for the fall/winter, I am also working on tropical themed layouts and cards for a kit to be sold in the scrapbook store that I work in. It makes for a horrendous craftermath as there are both summer and winter papers and embellishments everywhere.
Today’s card for the blog is once again a gift card holder. I like to have gift card cards ready to go at this time of year. This card is made mostly with dies from a Karen Burniston set called Coffee Card Pop-up.

2018 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop # 2
Somewhere along the line, I bought the die that I used for this post. I don’t know where or how I got it. I do know that I must have got it in a sale. , because it is always the impulse buys that I can’t remember. I swear that this die just jumped in my cart of its’ own accord. Then later, when I looked in my “new” drawer for inspiration, there it was. I had recently seen a video that featured a fall card with this die set and so I took that as a sign. I can’t remember where I saw the video to give proper inspiration credit. Where I live the “Fall” ship has sailed already. We are supposed to receive 12 centimetres of new snow this weekend, but since this design is perfect for fall colours, I went with that theme.
I made my own sequin mix using some Bottle Cap sequins from Brutus Monroe as the base. It turned out so well that I wished I had made a bigger batch of the mix. The die is from Sizzix and is called Multi Window Shaker die. I think it will end up being quite versatile and I will find uses for it in both cardmaking and scrapbooking. I love it when an impulse buy works out so well. The coffee cup is from Jane’s Doodles. The patterned paper, wood grain and glitter cardstocks are Lawn Fawn and Simon Says Stamp. The coffee sleeve cardstock is from Stampin Up (Discontinued so I have to hoard it). The big leaves are from My Favorite Things
