Coffee Lovers Spring/Summer Bloghop Day 8
This is the last day of the Coffee Bloghop. You would think that time would be dragging under the current circumstances, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. Maybe, I have just become so inefficient. As I told someone the other day, I am going to have to start getting dressed on Monday for work on Tuesday or I am going to be late. Yes, I am going back to work on Tuesday!
This card is a very simple one with a lot of assistance from the Ciao Bella paper. It also features one of my favorite animals at the moment, being the sloth. I probably like them so much because they make me look ambitious by comparison. I am telling myself that I am doing something quick so I can get outside to get some gardening done. We will see if that happens.

For today’s card, I decided to use the Magic Iris die. I had taken a class at Creativation using this die. I had some difficulty following Kelly Marie Alvarez’s simple instructions and my “iris” winked but did not close. LOL. I don’t like to leave a project in a not done right state and so I was anxious to make this one correctly. I am happy to say this one worked out and looks nice with the great Ciao Bella coffee paper.
Coffee Lovers Spring/Summer 2020 Bloghop Day 6
I have had a fascination for Meerkats for a while now. I watch videos of them doing what Meerkats do……………….at least the version of what they do when they live in a zoo. A group of Meerkats is called a mob and if you watch videos of them, you will realize why. Social distancing is just NOT in their DNA! They do take turns being the “watchkat” for the mob. If they find anything interesting the “watchkat” alerts the mob and organized chaos ensues. On my card, the “watchkat” has discovered a little cache of tea forgotten about in one their tunnels, and it has created quite a stir in the mob.
Coffee Lovers Spring/Summer 2020 Bloghop Day 5
Sitting on my desk this morning was a new die I got from Tutti Designs. It is called Twisted Rope but I thought it looked like a fishing net and so I decided to use it that way. It was a bit of a stretch to make a coffee card with a fishing net background, but I think it turned out quite cute.
Coffee Lovers Bloghop Day 4
For today’s card, I decided to do a slimline card with some rainbow coloured coffee cups.
Spring Card Camp 2 Day 19
Today’s tutorial was presented by Dawn Woleslagle and was about Gel Press Printing. I admit my heart sank when I saw the topic. as I am very much a newbie when it comes to Gel Press. I was hoping to post a quick card and then get some housework done. Who am I kidding?……………………..but at least maybe get some weeds pulled in the garden…………………………………………or maybe at the very least get out of my Pj’s.
I had taken a class at Creativation about Mono Printing and came away excited about it enough to buy a full set of Gel Presses……………you guessed it………………the scourge came and I left Phoenix in a hurry forgetting all about my Gel Presses even though I did bring them home.
Well, I got them out and am I glad I did! Dawn’s instruction fit in well with my need for control. This method of using the Gel Press was not crazy messy and allowed me to use my Oxides and stamps and keep some degree of control over the resulting backgrounds. I ended up with many many backgrounds and I loved them all. I think I could make 20 cards in various patterns and colours. I will post here the 2 that make up the cards that result when you take images off the gel press for 1 card and then brayer over a blank piece of cardstock laying on the gel press for the second card.
I don’t think I have looked at the results of a technique with as much wonder since I discovered heat embossing many years ago.
Coffee Lovers Bloghop Day 2 and Spring Card Camp 2 Day 18
I decided to combine the theme of the Spring Card Camp 2 Day 18 tutorial with the coffee theme of the Coffee Lovers Bloghop.
I used several ink pads in uncontrolled smears to create a number of backgrounds. I am sure I have at least 8 more hiding somewhere on my desk. I did find as Yana mentioned that some of them did not look so good when first inked, but they improved considerably when they were dry.
Coffee Lovers Bloghop Day 1
I have been making a large number of blog posts lately. First there was the Spring Card Camp that lasted 20 days. This was followed by the unexpected Spring Card Camp 2 which is still in progress and will also last for 20 days. On top of this I have been busy making card samples for the Scrapbook store that I work for. Now today, is the first day of the Coffee Lovers Spring Summer Bloghop. This bloghop has been very good to me. I have been lucky enough to win a prize every year but one.
The only real rule of this bloghop is that every card be new………no backlinking allowed. I decided to use an up to the minute and very topical patterned paper to show that this card is not back linked.
Although I can honestly say that I detest the symbol on this patterned paper, Photoplay has made it palatable with the happy bright colours.
